Working choreographers, industry dancers and Mwendo-raised artists — every class is taught by someone still living the craft.
Tamu Beatrice
Founder, Director & Head Teacher · Award-winning choreographer
AFRO-CARIB · CONTEMPORARY · TECHNIQUE
Tamu has danced for more than 23 years and has been teaching and choreographing since she was 16. Trained first in ballet, she went on to explore West African and Caribbean folk dance, touring the world with performing arts company Tc3 before earning her BFA at OCAD U after studying dance and art at Rosedale Heights School for the Arts.
Her goal has never changed: a studio where dancers feel welcomed while they excel in technique, artistry and performance. Her students have gone on to arts schools, music videos, festivals and concert stages — and she can’t wait for your dancer to experience the motions of Mwendo.
Treshonna “Miss TK” Wolliston

Miss TK started dancing at three years old and fell in love immediately — with the beauty, passion, strength and expression of the art form. Sharing that feeling with the next generation is exactly why she went into dance education.
A Rosedale Heights dance major and captain of her school’s travelling performance company, TK went on to graduate from George Brown’s Performance Dance program. She’s still active in the industry — choreographing, performing at festivals, appearing in music videos — and runs her own company, CurvyQueens Co.
Dashawn Blackwood
Faculty · Hip-Hop Collective
HIP-HOP · PERFORMANCE
One half of Mwendo’s hip-hop teaching collective — a partnership ten years strong — Dashawn has danced his entire life, training competitively from age ten in hip-hop, tap and jazz.
Today he’s an active dancer, actor and model, sharing his art on television series, commercials, video shoots and festival stages. Two decades in, his dance has never faltered: it’s a gift that keeps giving, and he’s honoured to pass it to his students.
Cameron Roger
Faculty · Hip-Hop Collective
POPPING · WAVING · TUTTING · KRUMP · FREESTYLE
The second half of the collective, Cameron is a hip-hop choreographer who has loved freestyle for over a decade — competing with “Royal T” and building a style that spans popping, waving, tutting and krumping.
When he’s not modelling or on a fashion ad, you’ll find him freestyling. Cameron lives for teaching dancers the freedom and self-expression that dance can bring — and helping them fall in love with it, again and again.
Nation Lewis

The newest addition to the faculty is far from new to Mwendo: Nation is a graduate dancer of the company with 13 years of dance behind her — an award-winning competitive dancer known for passion, musicality and storytelling.
A Wexford Collegiate graduate (senior performance dance, glee and musical theatre), Nation has stepped into the industry dancing in music and concept videos. Her nurturing energy makes her the perfect lead for our Tinyz classes — and a wonderful first teacher for your dancer.
